Swine Flu Latest

Keep up to date with latest information relating the the swine flu outbreak.

The Department of Health has stated that The World Health Organization has raised its alert over the spread of swine flu to level five - one short of its highest alert level.
Phase five means that person-to-person spread of the virus has taken place in at least two countries.

A leaflet published by The Department of Health, which will be delivered to people’s doors nationwide early next week. It explains swine flu and how it could spread, what UK governments have done to prepare for a wider outbreak of flu, how people can protect themselves against flu as well as what to do if they have flu symptoms.

CATCH IT. BIN IT. KILL IT
A mass public health campaign has begun today with TV, print and radio adverts warning people about swine flu with the simple message: CATCH IT. BIN IT. KILL IT.

It is important to emphasise that in all cases outside Mexico, the symptoms of this illness are mild and all patients have made a full recovery.

Take simple measures to prevent infection.
Wash Hands Regularly.
Where washing facilities are unavailable or when travelling, consider using an antibacterial gel for the hands, such as that used in medical establishments.
Sneeze or cough into a TISSUE handkerchief (Not your hand), ensuring that both the nose and mouth are covered. Then dispose of the tissue IMMEDIATELY.
Anyone who develops flu-like symptoms should go home and contact their GP.
Anyone who has recently travelled to the affected areas and is experiencing influenza-like illness should stay at home to limit contact with others and seek medical advice by phone from a local health professional or NHS Direct.

Ensuring a clean home or workplace free of bacteria will keep you healthy and mobilis direct offers some of the best cleaning products available. With sterilisation products, disposable gloves and masks, and wipes and sprays for both surfaces and the skin, you can keep your environment clean.

For information on the health and hygiene aspects of swine flu, visit the Department of Health website.

sorbothane Sorbothane Range

300 Tonnes of force. That's roughly what your feet absorb when you run a mile. It's obviously the way the human body was designed to operate. But, some modern day activities – especially sports – cause extra pressure on bones, joints, ligaments and tendons, to the point where our bodies could really do with some extra help. And that’s where Sorbothane comes in.

Whether you are a walker, runner or just a general all-round sporty type, you've probably heard all the hype about Sorbothane insoles.

Well here's the good news. It's all true. Sorbothane insoles absorb up to 94.7% of foot impact shock. And that means that with the exception of your shoes, Sorbothane insoles are probably the most essential piece of gear you can buy to reduce your injury risk, ensure maximum comfort and get the best from your performance.

Available in various designs to suit your application:

Performance Shockstopper Range - Designed for active people who want to prevent injury.

Prosole - Super thin Insoles Ideal for use in football, hockey, rugby and cricket.

Cush'n'step - Long Term Comfort. Suitable as replacement insoles in walking boots.

Formthotics

formthotics Formthotics

Many people suffer from foot, lower limb and back pain due to incorrect placement of the foot during walking or running.

Formthotics are a revolutionary type of custom insole that every active person can use to prevent injury, improve comfort and enhance performance. Formthotics can be custom moulded to your unique foot shape, right inside your shoes, in a matter of minutes.

Like most great inventions, the discovery of Formthotics was very simple. In the late 70's a Christchurch doctor, Charlie Baycroft, was thinking about the problem of sports injuries to the legs and lower back as he strolled along the beach one day. He was suddenly aware that while his bare feet were able to sink into the soft sand and form a supporting imprint (his footprint), most modern surfaces are hard and flat. Instead of spending time standing on soft earth which conforms to the natural shape and curve of our feet, we now walk on surfaces, like concrete floors and asphalt roads, which force our feet to flatten and twist.

Today's shoes are also mass produced to fit an average foot shape. However, people themselves are fitter and more active so our feet are under greater strain while in poorer fitting shoes. The natural contours of the feet are unable to properly distribute body weight and impact with the ground transfers back up through the legs, placing stress on joints.

Formthotics are designed to put that natural support shape and surface back under your feet. They have been used to not only help correct 'problem' feet but also to support normal feet in coping with the abnormal stresses of everyday modern life.
